China Dash Malaysia's Semifinal Hopes In Asian Junior Championship

KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- China proved its prowess in badminton by defeating Malaysia 3-0 to dash the national junior squad's semifinal hopes in the 2015 Asian Junior Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. The junior shuttlers gave a tough fight but were forced to admit defeat at the hands of the Chinese players. China secured their first point when mixed doubles pair Tan Jinn Hwa/Goh Jin Wei lost to Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen 8-21, 8-21 before Lin Guipu defeated Cheam June Wei 21-5, 21-17 in the boy's singles to make it 2-0 while in the boy's doubles, Zheng Siwei/He Jiting edged Aaron Chia Teng Fong/Goh Sze Fei 21-17, 18-21, 21-12. China is scheduled to battle Japan in the semifinals while Indonesia who beat Thailand will meet South Korea, later in the evening. Japan won the other quarterfinals by defeating India 3-1, Indonesia beat Thailand 3-2 while South Korea beat Hong Kong 3-1. --BERNAMA
