China trashed 3-2 by Iran

TEHRAN, Jan. 19 (MNA) – In their third encounter at the AFC U23 Championship, Iranian footballers trounced China finding their way into the quarter-finals. The Iranian U23 squad, headed by Mohammed Khakpour, played against China on Monday evening and managed to get the better of the match 3-2. Arsalan Motahhari (36th minute), Ehsan Pahlavan (41st minute) and Mahdi Torabi (48th minute) found the net for Iran while Chang Feiya (40th minute) and Liao Lisheng (70th minute) managed to score goals for China. Khakpour’s boys ruled the pitch all through the match even though China managed to level the result once in the opening half which was immediately compensated for by Ehsan Pahlavan who restored his side’s lead. Iran’s U23 football team finished the group stage with a total of six points to make it inot the quarter-finals as the second team in Group A after Qatar. The Iranian outfit will meet Japan in a tough knock-out match on Friday January 22.
