Countdown for Nasser Football Championship

Manama, May 28 (BNA): Final preparations for the eighth edition of Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Football Championship (Nasser 8) and the first Nasser bin Hamad Sports Championship are ongoing, following the directives of His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Nasser 8 kicks off next Thursday, June 4 and will conclude on July 3. The championship will include three additional games this year, including basketball, handball and volleyball. The Supreme Organising Committee held a meeting yesterday that was chaired by HH Shaihk Nasser Media and Information Centre Head and Nasser 8 Supreme Organising Committee Chairman Tawfeeq Al Salehy and was attended by the Supreme Organising Committee Deputy Chairman and Nasser 8 Director Hassan Ismail, Fields and Services Committee Head Khalid Khalil, Ceremonies Committee Head Hamad Hussain, Technical Committee Head Mohammed Hussain, Media Committee Head Hussain Al Dirazi and Referees Committee Head Jassim Mahmood. During the meeting, Al Salehy conveyed the greetings of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the organisers and highlighted the responsibility entrusted to them. Al Salehy discussed the schedules of the championship, which will be held on the grounds of Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town until June 15, before the commencement of the Holy Month of Ramadan. Explaining more, Al Salehy announced that as Ramadan starts, the final of the championship will take place in Bahrain National Stadium. As for the new games, Ismail said that the basketball competitions will be held at Bahrain Basketball Association in Umm Al Hassam, while the handball championship is organised on the grounds of Bahrain Handball Association in the same area. He confirmed that volleyball games will take place at Bahrain Volleyball Association in Isa Town. Heads of the organising committees discussed the responsibilities entrusted to them and ensured bringing out a successful championship, by taking the necessary preparations in advance. Speaking in the same context, Media Committee Head Al Dirazi stated that the events of the championship will be covered by national television, press and social media. He announced several channels on social media sites to cover the championship, including @nasser8.bh, @nasserfootball and @alhakam_bh on Instagram and Twitter, in addition to BahrainFA on YouTube.
