Dahlan Al Hamad: QaRunner Femi Ogunode Nominated for Best Asian Athletetar's

Doha, September 14 (QNA) - Dahlan Al Hamad, president of Qatar Athletics Federation and Asian Athletics Association (AAA) and vice president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), announced that Qatar's runner Femi Ogunode was nominated for Asian athlete of the year award. Al Hamad said the nomination is a huge milestone for Qatari athletics and is indicative of the success of Qatar's athletes and their positive participation in continental and international sport. Ogunode won the 100 meters in 9.93 seconds at the Rieti World Challenge meeting Sunday. Two days earlier at the Diamond League meet in Brussels, the 24-year-old ran the same 9.98 time as race winner Justin Gatlin but finished second. Al Hamad said the nomination of Ogunode shows the role of Qatar in developing sport and working to build generations that can carry on the march of achievements and records. (QNA)
