Darfur Refugee Football Team's Delegation Visits QFA

Doha, January 09 (QNA) - A delegation from the supreme committee of Darfur refugee team visited Qatar Football Association (QFA) headquarters on Monday to discuss issues of mutual interest and the importance of enhancing them in the coming period so as to serve the football system in Qatar and Sudan and boost joint cooperation between the two associations within the fraternal ties between the two countries. The visit of the Sudanese delegation comes as part of the annual program of the Darfur team's program and its preparation camp, which takes place in activation of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. The visit is the second for the refugee team. QFA President HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani and Dr. Hassan Barqu, Sudan Football Association board member, head of the supreme committee of the Darfur refugee team and head of the association's national teams' committee, reaffirmed during the meeting the need to continue cooperation between the two associations and develop bilateral ties. Barqu hailed the attention that HE the QFA president pays to football matters in the two countries, expressing hope for further fruitful cooperation in the comping phase. He added that the visit is an extension of deep-rooted relationship between the Qatari and Sudanese associations and is his second time in Doha. He noted that the visit is an activation of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur, through which Doha hosts the training camps of Darfur refugees' team under the full hospitality of QFA. Barqu praised the substantial capacities of QFA on all fronts, stressing that the coming period will see his side work on benefiting and exchanging expertise as well as shaping mutual cooperation towards further fruitful and constructive cooperation. He added that the first week of February was set as a date to sign the cooperation agreement between the Qatari and Sudanese associations in the presence of HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani and Sudan Football Association President Kamal Shaddad.
