Dates of 2018 World Cup to be named in December

MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. The International Federation of Football Associations will announce dates of the 2018 World Cup in Russia in mid-December, the FIFA press service said on Thursday. The dates will be approved at the FIFA Executive Committee's session in Morocco scheduled for December 18-19, the press service said. The dates will be also discussed at a meeting of FIFA representatives and members of the Russia-2018 organising committee to be held in Sochi on November 21. The championship is expected to take place on June 8 - July 8, 2018, while the FIFA Confederations Cup, a prelude to the 2018 World Cup, may take place on June 17 - July 2, 2017. Russia won the bid to host the 2018 World Cup in 2010. The tournament will be held in 11 cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and Samara. Read more
