Distance runner Alia Saeed secures U.A.E.'s first gold at Asian Games

INCHEON: Distance runner Alia Mohammed Saeed of U.A.E. on Saturday secured the country's first gold medal at the current 17th Asian Games in South Korea when she won the women’s 10,000-metre final at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium. Alia Saaed, who took the silver medal in last year’s Asian Athletics Championships in India, posted a personal best time of 31:51.86 and was followed by China’s Changqin Ding (31:53.09) and Japan’s Ayumi Hagiwara (31:55.67). With this win, Saeed qualifies for Rio 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
