Egyptian travel agencies planning tours for fans going to World Cup in Russia - diplomat

MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/. Egypt’s travel companies have started putting together tour packages for fans planning to visit Russia during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Egyptian Ambassador to Russia Ihab Nasr said in an interview with TASS on Wednesday. "Lately, Egyptian travel agencies have been developing tour packages to Russia during the World Cup for those fans who will stay for the entire tournament and for those who will attend some matches, as well as for fans who will come for just one match," the ambassador noted. The diplomat noted that Egyptians have shown great interest in going to Russia for the World Cup. ""Certainly, I cannot indicate the exact number of fans who will come. But you know, for us in Egypt, football is the number one sport. That’s why both those fans who will come for the tournament and those who will watch the game in front of the TV will still show interest in the event and in Russia," Nasr explained. The envoy recalled that the Egyptian team would play a match against Russia. "For me personally this is even more thrilling since this game will be in the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding and will be held in the wonderful city of St. Petersburg." Team Egypt has reached the World Cup for the first time in 28 years. The Egyptian squad will play against Uruguay in Yekaterinburg on June 15, against Russia in St. Petersburg on June 19 and against Saudi Arabia in Volgograd on June 25. Read more
