E.Sumiya’s Olympic qualification revived

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mongolian National Olympic Committee (MonNOC) received Friday an official note from the United World Wrestling (UWW) about reviving the Olympic qualification for E.Sumiya, a Mongolian freestyle wrestler, to compete in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. “As you may know, following the first notice of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the results of your wrestler, Ms Erdenechimeg Sumiya, had to be cancelled in view of her positive doping results for meldonium during the Asian Qualifying Event. As a reminder, this wrestler finished first of her category. Last week, WADA issued a revised position about meldonium and, in accordance with this new notice and due to the circumstances of this particular case, we are now able, in view of the urgency, to hereby to reinstate her result. I am therefore glad to inform you that we allocate one spot in women’s wrestling, 53 kg, to your country,” said Michel Dusson, Secretary-General of the UWW, in the letter. As revising of the Olympic qualification for the Mongolian wrestling, the national team of Mongolia has secured 40 quotas to compete in events of archery, athletics, boxing, judo, shooting, taekwondo, weightlifting and wrestling.
