Ex-National Bowler Gerald Samuel Clinches Silver Medal In APMG

GEORGE TOWN (Penang, Malaysia) Sept 13 (Bernama) -- Former national kegler, Gerald Samuel, has returned to active competition in the 2018 Asia Pacific Masters Games (APMG). Gerald, 46, who is now an assistant coach with the national squad said APMG 2018 was his first competition since he joined the Penang International Bowling Festival in December last year. “Since I began assisting national coach Holloway Cheah in 2016, I am no longer active in bowling. I am only monitoring national players and training them. “This is my first competition in almost a year. It was difficult in the beginning to return to competition mode...one has to find the right feel and rhythm to give the best performance,” he said in a statement here Wednesday. Gerald who claimed the silver medal in the men’s age 45 and above category on Monday after knocking down 1,170 points in six games, lost the gold to Mio Pico of Philippines. He hoped more Malaysians could keep themselves healthy by being involved in sports for a longer period as seen by the senior citizens participating in the championship. -- BERNAMA
