FIBA Asia Cup: Iran 77- 47 Indonesia

TEHRAN,July 14(MNA)--The Iranian basketball team defeated Indonesia in the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup on Sunday. In the match held at the Wuhan Gymnasium in Wuhan, Iran defeated its East Asian rival 77-47 in Pool A. Memi Becirovic’s men started the campaign with a 75-52 win over Japan and then lost to host China 64-51. “We are also not in full strength,” Becirovic explained in obvious reference to the absence of Samad Bahrami, Hamed Afagh and Mahdi Kamrani. “This is yet the Preliminary Round and we have every chance to go on to win the title,” the Slovenian coach added. Asghar Kardoust led Iran scoring with 18 points and Indonesian Lopez Enguio led their scoring with 16 points. The winner of this tournament will automatically qualify for the FIBA Asia Championship in 2015.
