FIFA U-20 World Cup: Qatar Faces US, Leave Tournament

Warsaw, May 30 (QNA) - Qatar's U-20 team will conclude on Thursday their participation in FIFA U-20 World Cup in Group D by facing its US counterpart at Tychy Stadium at 9:30 pm Doha time. Qatar's team had suffered two consecutive losses against Nigeria 4-0, and against Ukrainian 1-0. However, the tournament's 24-team format allows the four best third-placed countries from the groups to also progress. In Group D, Ukraine have qualified for the next round of the tournament with six points from two matches. Nigeria and the US each have three points from two matches in Group D. Qatar Coach Bruno Miguel said that the match against the American team is a new opportunity to gain experience, it is Qatar's third match at FIFA U-20 World Cup, and the team will try to perform well with a good competitive level, to finish the match with a positive result and secure the three points. Qatar's young team has shown flashes of brilliance in their two last matches. However, a stern test awaits Qatar's squad on Friday. (QNA)
