Moscow, July 11 (QNA) - Generation Amazing, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy's (SC) flagship CSR programme, organized for young leaders from across Asia to attend the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and participate in a range of football for development activities. The delegation spent a week in Russia where they attended a match, took part in leadership workshops and participated in various sporting activities. They also attended the FIFA Foundation Festival. One of the highlights of the trip, which involved 16 Generation Amazing youth ambassadors from Qatar, India and the Philippines, was a sport for development activity organised in collaboration with CSKA Moscow basketball team. Representatives from Best Buddies Russia also joined in the fun at the CSKA Basketball Arena, along with sporting legends from the worlds of football and basketball. Former France international Florent Malouda was part of the football legends line-up, alongside former Argentina forward Javier Saviola, ex-England striker Stan Collymore, Qatar's Ibrahim Khalfan and Bora Milutinovic, the only man to coach five nations at the FIFA World Cup finals. Basketball stars Ivan Edeshko, an Olympic champion in 1972, and long-time CSKA Moscow player Dmitry Minaev, also took part in the activities. Qatari ambassador Maha Al Badr thoroughly enjoyed the Russia trip and praised the impact Generation Amazing is making. Saviola, who played for Argentina at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, said he was proud to support Generation Amazing. The SCs CSR Senior Manager Isabel Gultresa said the lessons learned in Russia would be transferred to the ambassadors' home countries. "This event was a big success because we were able to showcase the work we are doing in communities across Asia, and how Generation Amazing can be adapted to different sports and contexts," said Gultresa. Gultresa added: "The power of sport to bring people together is incredible, and it was a pleasure to work with CSKA Moscow and an honour to host the Best Buddies youth. Our new ambassadors will take their expertise and knowledge gained back to their countries." For the SCs Local & Regional CSR Manager Mead Al Emadi, the Russia visit highlighted the continued growth of Generation Amazing. Al Emadi said: "We have significantly expanded the reach of Generation Amazing in Qatar and the region, and will be expanding into new countries soon. The young ambassadors we took to Moscow reflect the positive effect we are having in the different communities we reach through the power of football." (QNA)
