GPIC wins BLB tournament

Manama, May 26 (BNA): The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has won the Bapco League Basketball (BLB) Championship by beating the Bapco "Maintenance" team 67-60 in the final played at the Batelco Club. Commenting on the achievement, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery congratulated the team and its captain for their efforts in the success. He applauded their training, perseverance and determination in taking part in team sports at the highest level and said it proved the capabilities of team members to achieve even greater heights. Dr. Jawahery also praised the spirit with which the team members played and said he was very please with their determination and the will to succeed. He said he wished they would achieve greater heights in the time to come. Team captain Reza Memari thanked Dr. Jawahery on behalf of the players and said it was his constant encouragement and keen desire to support the team members that had led to the achievement. He also said Dr. Jawahery had been instrumental in supporting the team at all levels and the company employees who had come to each match to encourage and support the players. Memari said the team would continue to do well at such events year after year and spoke about their importance for the overall benefit of the athletes.
