Great potential for stepping up Belarus-Azerbaijan cooperation

Baku, August 27 (AzerTAc). Belarus and Azerbaijan have a great potential for expanding cooperation, said Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich as he met with First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yaqub Eyyubov. Mikhail Myasnikovich remarked: “The potential of our countries is very large within the framework of bilateral cooperation as well as within the framework of multilateral contacts. I think we have good prospects”. He underlined that cooperation with Azerbaijan has always been a priority for Belarus. The Belarusian side has always tried to fully honor its obligations within the framework of bilateral cooperation. At present about 250 enterprises are involved in the bilateral trade. “They are involved in the process of trade and economic cooperation, mostly importantly, in investment and scientific and technical cooperation,” pointed out the Prime Minister. He said he was confident the forthcoming visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Belarus would give a boost to the trade, economic, and investment interaction between the countries. The Belarusian head of government thanked Yaqub Eyyubov for attention to Belarusian-Azerbaijani cooperation. “We constantly feel this attention,” he said. Mikhail Myasnikovich asked Yaqub Eyyubov to convey greetings to the prime minister of Azerbaijan. “We have agreed many times that he will visit our country. I think the visit will take place in the near future,” he said. In turn, Yaqub Eyyubov thanked Mikhail Myasnikovich for his personal contribution to the enhancement of Belarus-Azerbaijan cooperation. He remarked he had great respect for the Belarusian nation. “The Belarusians are reliable, kind, and hardworking people. If we look at your performance indicators, you have surpassed us. It cheers me up. Belarus shows an example of sustainable economic growth and prosperity”. Azerbaijan imports products of over 200 Belarusian enterprises, with over 40 manufacturers represented via 32 commodity distribution chain subjects. Manufacturing cooperation is vigorously promoted. Facilities have been set up in Azerbaijan to assemble tractors Belarus and trucks, automobile cranes, MAZ garbage removal trucks, elevators, optical equipment, LED-based lamps. The Ganja automobile plant is the leader of Belarusian-Azerbaijani manufacturing cooperation.
