Hamidin Is Officially FAM President

PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia) July 14 (Bernama) – Former Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Hamidin Mohd Amin has been officially appointed as the president of the football parent body for the remainder of the 2017-2021 term Saturday. It was declared at the 54th FAM Congress at a hotel here, where Hamidin replaced the Tunku Mahkota of Johor of crown prince of Johor (TMJ), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim in the hot seat. Hamidin won the FAM's number one post unchallenged after his challengers, Kelantan Football Association president Annuar Musa and National Sports Institute chairman Azim Mohd Zabidi decided to withdraw. "I feel so small being the first ordinary person to hold this post. A hard task awaits me ... I give my assurance that I am not anybody’s lackey as claimed by several quarters, for the development of national football," he said in his first message as President here, Saturday. Also present was former FAM president Tunku Ismail, who is also the Chairman of the Malaysian Football League. The hot seat became empty after TMJ resigned in March. -- BERNAMA
