Handball: Qatar Loses Against Angola in World Championship Opening Match

Copenhagen, January 11 (QNA) - Qatar began its 2019 World Men's Handball Championship campaign with a 23-24 loss against Angola in Group D. The match took place in Copenhagen. The first half ended 12-8 in Angola's favor, Qatar pushed back in the second half and actually took a 23-22 lead before Angola scored twice in a row to win the match. Angola's keeper was in phenomenal form in the match, saving five clear-cut chances from Qatar. The Qatari team will play against Egypt in Sunday, before meeting Hungary on Monday. The fourth match against Sweden will take place Wednesday, before facing Argentina on Thursday. The top three of each group reach the second round. Those who fall in the bottom three play a cup among each other. The second round will see 12 teams split to two groups, with the top two of each group reaching the semi-final. (QNA)
