HH Shaikh Khalid praises athletes’ achievements

Manama, Mar. 19 (BNA): HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Honorary President of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMAAF), has extended his sincerest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister and HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, on Bahrain's historical achievement in the World Kowat Al Rami Amateur Championship after winning five medals. Held on March 7-17, the event took place in Thailand and Bahrain's Mohammed Abdulameer earned the Kingdom a gold medal in the 55 kg category, while his teammate Abdullah Khouri won the silver medal in the 95 kg class. Their country fellow Hussain Al Samaheeji earned the silver medal too, but in the 60 kg category. Meanwhile, the Kingdom's Mahmoud Zuhair claimed the bronze medal in the 65 kg class. Commenting on this accomplishment, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed that winning five medals in such a prestigious event was the result of HM the King's support to sports and Bahraini sportspeople, stating that HM's backing has positioned the Kingdom among the leading countries in the youth and sports field. He added that these results reflect the extraordinary efforts being exerted by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to elevate the youth and sports movement through launching unique development strategies and visions, in line with HM the King's instructions to empower Bahraini athletes to bring home important results that mirror the bright image of Bahrain across all fields. HH Shaikh Khalid expressed pride in the achievement of the Bahrainis in the World Kowat Al Rami Amateur Championship, praising the performance of Bahraini athletes during the event.
