HM King, UAE Vice President attend endurance race

Manama, Feb. 6 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended HM King Hamad Endurance Cup race for 120 km. His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier also attended the race which was organised by Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) at Bahrain International Endurance Village. Dubai Crown Prince Shaikh Himdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum took part in the race alongside an elite of riders from Bahrain and the UAE. HM the King and the UAE Vice President were welcomed on arrival at Bahrain International Endurance Village by National Guard Commander Lieutenant General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of HM the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), President of Bahrain Olympic Committee and BREEF Honorary President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, SCYS First Deputy Chairman, President of Bahrain Athletics Association and Captain of Al-Khalidiya stables Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, BREEF President Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa and board members. Shaikh Nasser briefed HM the King and the UAE Vice President on the stages of the 120-km race and the number of participating riders, stressing that BREEF had made all necessary arrangements for Bahraini riders to take part in all races of the season. HM the King and the UAE Vice President exchanged talks with the riders, wishing them every success. HM King Hamad lauded the positive results brought about by the Bahraini riders in various regional, Arab and international competitions, thanking Shaikh Nasser, Shaikh Khalid and BREEF Board Chairman and members for their efforts to develop the equestrian sport in Bahrain. He also commended participation of the Emirati riders in the race which underlines strong brotherly ties binding both countries. HM the King congratulated the winners, wishing them more success in upcoming championships. He also praised the high performance of Bahraini riders, wishing the participants and organisers more success. On his part, Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum commended the big strides of the endurance sport in Bahrain, underlining the great support of HM the King to it which contributed to Bahrain's achievements. He added that participation of the Emirati riders is an assertion of bilateral cooperation in various fields, lauding the role of Shaikh Nasser in developing the endurance sport in Bahrain. Shaikh Nasser crowned the winners. Fahad Al-Khateri, from the Royal Team, clinched first place while Shaikh Himdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum came second and Ghanim Al-Awisi finished third. Meanwhile, in the junior category, first place went to Royal team rider Dana Ahmed Al-Banghadir, second place to Al-Khalidiya stable rider Yussef Foued Jawhar and third place to Qatari rider Said Hamad Said.
