Holroyd Winner of the 204/2015 Qatar Challenge

Doha, May 03 (QNA) - Mark James Holroyd has been crowned the winner of the 2014/2015 Qatar Challenge in the last round of the season took place today at Losail International Circuit. In the Qualifying practice, the Honda driver Holroyd took the pole position with a lap time of 2:28.743, only 0.180 difference gap ahead of Peter De Vido, who made a time of 2:28.923. In the race, Mark Holroyd crossed the checkered flag in first position followed by Peter De Vido, but after checking both cars, they were disqualified as they do not comply with technical regulations. Therefore, the winner of the last round was Talal Wehbe who ended the race in third place and was really happy with his win 'I am so glad to be on the podium though I had issues with my tyres, but I pushed hard trying to beat the guys ahead of me and I am really happy with my result' said Talal after the podium. Shady El Mohandes finished the race in second position. Mark Holroyd ended the championship with 146 points followed by Peter De Vido who finished the championship with 91 points. Holroyd was extremely happy after his victory 'This Championship requires a lot of support. Im grateful that I got this support from Ooredoo as it has made my life easier to come to the track with a reliable car. My championship points dont tell the whole story; every weekend I am usually the first in the pit lane and the last to leave. I'm happy to have won the championship and to have done my sponsors proud. I can't wait to come back next year to defend the championship said the championship winner. For the runner up of the championship, Peter De Vido it has been a fantastic championship It has been a great championship and it wouldn't have been possible without my team (Quanto Bello Qatar Racing). We had a lot of fun this year and to see many podiums and a good position in the championship is very rewarding. Thanks to the mechanics from secret performance workshop and to all the competitors' De Vido said after the race. The third position in the championship is for Shady El Mohandes with 63 points. 'I started racing a year and a half ago and my timings got better with time. This is my second podium since I joined this championship. Having clinched third overall gives more moral of doing better next season. I'm happy with my results and I would like to extend my gratitude to the organizer (QMMF) for this event.' El Mohandes stated after the race. Nasser Khalifa Al Attiyah, QMMF President and LIC General Manager, expressed his happiness for the tough competition of this championship, the great performance of the participants and hopes that for the next season there will be more participants to make this championship more challenging.
