IBSF President to QNA: Qatar Made Quantum Leap for Snooker

Doha, January 15 (QNA) - International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) President Mubarak Al Khayarin stressed that Qatar has achieved a qualitative leap in snooker over the past period, appreciating the distinguished role played by the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation (QBSF) in developing and spreading the game on the continental and international levels. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Khayarin said Qatar has become the capital of sport, where recently hosted about 17 continental and international snooker competitions, the latest of which is the Qatar 6Reds for singles that ended on Tuesday evening. He explained that the 6Reds for the teams' tournament held last September, and the singles tournament were recently created, are the result fruitful cooperation between the QBSF and IBSF. He pointed out that the two tournaments have been added to the international agenda and will be held next year in Qatar. Al Khayarin added that the primary objective of the introduction of such tournaments is the development of snooker. President of IBSF hailed the success of the Qatar 6Reds, especially that the tournament witnessed the participation of the world best players. Al Khayarin praised QBSF for the amazing organization of Qatar 6Reds. He also praised Qatar's players' performances during the competitions, adding that they played with the top players around the world. President of IBSF concluded that the newly introduced tournaments have helped in raising the popularity of snooker around the world. (QNA)
