IHF Super Globe 2014 to Kick Off in Doha Sunday

Doha, September 06 (QNA) - The opening round of the IHF Super Globe 2014 will get underway at the newly-built Qatar Handball Association Complex on Sunday. The Qatar Handball Association Complex, one of the four venues which will host matches of the 2015 World Championship, will be inaugurated tomorrow. The IHF Super Globe will be played from 7 to 12 September in the Qatar Handball Association Complex as first test event for the pinnacle event in 2015. The sport facility is designed to host 5500 spectators, along with main distinctive seats and highly advanced air-conditioning systems. In the opening match on Sunday, Esperance Sportive de Tunis will lock horns against Sydney University, followed by SG Flensburg-Handewitt against HC Taubate in the second playoff. In the third match, El Jaish will shake hands with Al Ahli. The participating teams were divided into two groups: Group A: SG Flensburg-Handewitt (Germany, winner of the EHF Champions League), El-Jaish (Qatar, winner of the Asian Club League), HC Taubate (Brazil, Pan-American club champion), wild card participant (Qatar) Group B: FC Barcelona (defending champion), Esperance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia, African club champion), Al-Sadd (Qatar, host) and Sydney University HC.
