JAKARTA, June 12 (Bernama) -- The Indonesian Asian Games Organising Committee (INASGOC) will start selling tickets on June 30.

INASGOC chairman Erick Thohir said that they would do the best to make the ticket prices affordable.

"We will carefully determine the best prices as we do not wish to burden people. We are still discussing the right prices," he said in a statement here.

Tickets may also be purchased at official Asian Games 2018 ticket stands or merchandise shops in several shopping malls in Jakarta and Palembang as well as at the Games venues.

He noted that people could buy tickets online at Asian Games 2018 official website (asiangames2018.id) , and sale would also be managed by official agency Kios Tix using credit cards, bank transfers, or cash at Alfamart retail shops.

Meanwhile, INASGOC Ticketing director Sarman Simanjorang said that the people would be required to present their identity cards, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers when buying the tickets.

He said that around one thousand people would be employed to scan or monitor the tickets.

"It is hoped that through the method, the issue of fake tickets can be prevented," he said.

For foreign spectators, Kios Tix ticketing management system, will coordinate and cooperate with national committees of their countries, travel agencies, or foreign online services to ease foreign representatives to watch the events, he said.

This will be the second time that Indonesia are hosting the Asian Games, the first in Jakarta in 1962, and this time around will be held in two cities - Jakarta and Palembang.

Indonesia were awarded the right to host the Games in 2014 after the original hosts Vietnam withdrew due to financial problems.

Indonesia asked to move the date forward to 2018, since 2019 is Indonesia's general election year.

Jakarta and Palembang, on the island of Sumatra, plan to welcome around 10,000 athletes from 45 countries, competing in 46 sports from Aug 18 to Sept 2, 2018.
