Iran’s Arsalan Kazemi joins Sixers

TEHRAN,July 9(MNA)-- The Sixers announced the addition of 2013 draft pick, Arsalan Kazemi, to the team’s roster for the Orlando Pro Summer League. Kazemi was drafted by the Sixers out of Oregon in the second round of last year’s draft, Cbslocal.com reported. He was supposed to play in the Las Vegas Summer League beginning Friday, but he had a change of plans. Kazemi will accompany the Iranian basketball team in the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup, which will be held in Wuhan, Hubei, China from July 11–19. "I will play here," he told Sixers.com. "I was with my national team. I traveled into Midway [Chicago] and then came here. I will play in Orlando, and then I have to join them [the national team] again for the FIBA Asia Cup and China." Kazemi was the 54th pick in last years NBA draft out of Oregon after averaging 9.4 points, 10 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game during his senior season. He averaged 4.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in just over 20 minutes per game at last year’s Orlando Summer League, then went over to Iran and averaged 13.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game for Petrochimi in the Iranian Basketball Super League. Kazemi will play in the Orlando Summer League for a second consecutive year. After his participation last summer he signed a one-year deal with Petrochimi Bandar, a professional team in Iran.
