Iran beats Japan mightily, reaches semifinal

Tehran, IRNA – Iran national beach football team in 2022 UAE Intercontinental Beach Football beat Japan 4-3 on Thursday night to reach the semifinal match. In the preliminary round match that began at 7:30 pm Tehran time, Iran in its Group B faced Japan and beat the strong Asian team 4-3 to reach the semifinal after three consecutive won game as the group's top team. The Iran national beach football team had in their previous two games versus Paraguay and the United States won those two games 6-2 and 6-4 and faced Japan on Thursday to ensure its top status in B Group with its 3rd won game. Iran's four goals in this game were scored by Hamid Behzadpour, Movahhed Mohammadpour, Mehdi Shirmohammadi. Japan's 3 goals too, were scored by Mohammad Masoumipour (own goal), Akaguma, and Kawai. In the middle of the 2nd period of the match Iran's Mohammad Ali Mokhtari received the referee's red card and was sent out of the field. Thus, the strong Iranian national team with its 9 points from three matches reached the semifinal as the top team of Group B, which will be played versus the host team, UAE and the other semifinal match will be played between Brazil and Paraguay.
