Iran finishes 1st in Taekwondo German Open

TEHRAN,Apr.15(MNA)--Iran claimed the Taekwondo German Open title in Hamburg, Germany on Sunday. The Iranian team finished on the podium with 40 points. Spain became runner-up with 36 points and Egypt came third with 19 points. Iran’s Yaghobi Abolfazl beat Belgium’s Si Mohamed Ketbi 9-6 in the final match of the -58kg weight category and clinched a gold medal. 2012 Olympic Games silver medalist Mohammad Bagheri Motamed defeated Spain’s Ruben Martinez Garcia 14-4 in the -68kg final and claimed the gold medal. In -74kg, Alireza Nassrazadany beat Raul Martinez Garcia from Spain and seized the gold medal. Masoud Haji Zavareh claimed the bronze in the category. Farzad Abdollahi won a gold medal in the -80kg, beating his countryman Mehdi Khodabakhshi. Yousef Karami beat Marc-Andre Bergeron from Canada 5-3 in the -87kg weight category and bagged the gold medal. Sajjad Mardani defeated Egyptian Mohamed Ayman in +87kg final match and won the gold. The Taekwondo German Open brought a total of 836 taekwondo athletes from 62 nations together.
