Iran holds Spain in Futsal World Cup

TEHRAN,Nov.4(MNA) -- Iran came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with mighty Spain in its FIFA Futsal World Cup 2012 opener at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok on Friday. Six-time European champion Spain, who has twice lifted the trophy at the World Cup, defeated the Asian heavyweight 2-0 in the second half but the Iranian team produced a spirited second half fight back and drew 2-2. Miguelin and Lozano scored for Spain but Iran improved in the second period and earned the draw they deserved courtesy of goals from Masoud Daneshvar and Hossein Tayebi. “It was a really tight match. We were not effective in attack and the game changed in the first five minutes of the second half, when instead of us scoring the third goal, they got one back. From then on they were more aggressive. We usually grow as the World Cup goes on, but you have to congratulate Iran - they played a great game," Venancio Lopez, Spain coach told FIFA. “During half-time, I asked my players to simply go out and play their attacking game, and so they did. At the end, I believe the result is perfect for the match," Ali Sanei, Iran coach. Iran will play Morocco on Monday.
