Iran to play Brazil and Russia in FIVB World League final

TEHRAN,July 8(MNA) - Iran will play top-ranked Brazil and Russia in the FIVB Mens' Volleyball World League's final six. Iran is in Pool I along with Brazil and Russia. In the preliminary round, Iran defeated Brazil twice and also lost to the team twice. In Pool H, host Italy will play the U.S. and the winner of Pool C. The semi-final of Pool C will take place on Friday between the four teams remaining. Belgium will go up against France and the other half of the semis will be between Australia and the Netherlands. The top two teams standing high in their respective Pools will go on to the final four knockout games scheduled to start on July 19 and the winners of the semi-final rounds will play for the crown on July 20. In last year's World League, the top six countries that battled it out for the crown were Italy, Bulgaria, Argentina, Brazil, Russia and Canada. In the semi-finals round, Italy went up against Russia and Brazil against Argentina. The final round was between Russia and Brazil where leading hitter of the Russians, Paylov Nikolay, was unstoppable as he went on to lead his team into victory with 20 spikes, three blocks and four service aces. Final score in favor of the 2013 FIVB World League champions Russia winning the match in three straight sets 25-23, 25-19, 25-19.
