Iran team crowned champion of Asian volleyball clubs competitions, wins ticket for World Cup

Tehran, April 16, IRNA - Iranˈs men volleyball team Matin Varamin beat on Wednesday its heavyweight rival Al Rayyan of Qatar at the final of the 2014 Asian Menˈs Clubs Volleyball Championship. The Iranian club which is now the champion of Asia got a berth for World Cup championships. The Qatari team won the first game 25 – 19 but lost the two other sets to its Iranian rival 24-26 and 16-25. The victory was the tenth championships of Iranian clubs in Asia. Iranian teams Paykan, Sanam, Saipa, Kaleh of Mazandaran and Matin Varamin have won the Asian championship titles. A team from China ranked third in the tournament.
