Iran weightlifters rank 3rd in Asia

Tehran, IRNA – Iran men weightlifting team gained 631 points in 2022 Bahrain Asian Weight Lifting Championship to rank 3rd in the Old Continent. The 2022 Asian Weightlifting Championships is currently being held in Manama, Bahrain on October 5-13, 2022. It was the 50th men's and 31st women's championship, which ended on Sunday with prizing the plus 109kg athletes. The Iranian men in these games won 4 gold, five silver and seven bronze medals. Also, the Iranian women weightlifters won three historical gold Asian medals in 81kg weight. Elham Hosseini won those precious medals for the Iranian sports history. The Iranian weightlifters were dispatched with full combination of ten weightlifters to the Asian Championship and ended the competition gaining 631 points and the Asian 3rd place. Iran's 10 weightlifters were competing in 6 fields, and won 16 medals in men's group. Also, the Iran women's weightlifter team in the Asian Championship won three gold medals. Compared with the previous Asian competitions, in Uzbekistan 2021, where they had gained 600 points, the team improved its status from the 4th to the 3rd best team. In men's team, the best Iranian weightlifter was Seyed Rasoul Motamedi, who won three gold medals. After him, Ali Davoudi gained a gold and two silver medals and was the 2nd best. The other medal winners in the team were Reza Dehdar with a silver and a bronze medal, Masoud Chatraie with a silver and a bronze medal, Mohammad Zareie and Amir Azizi, each with a bronze medal. The Iranian women, too, gaining 436 points for the first time won the Old Continent's 4th place.
