Iranian Students End 27th Universidad Gaining 1 Gold, 6 Silver, 3 Bronze Medals

Moscow, July 17, IRNA -- Iranian universities sport teams dispatched to Kazan, the capital city of Russia’s Tatarstan Republic for students international competition in 27th Universidad ended their work with one gold, six silver and three bronze medals Tuesday. The university studentsˈ sports competitions which started on July 6th in Kazan is scheduled to end today (on Wednesday) after the games’ closing ceremony. The Iranian students sports caravan that had participated in three fields, namely free style (FS) and Greco-Roman wrestling, and field and track (disc throwing), only managed to gain the gold medal of the 77 kg weight lifting by Rasoul Taqian. In FS wrestling Behnam Ehsanpour in 60 kg, and in Greco-Roman wrestling Hadi Alizadeh-Pournia and Amir-Ali Kabiri in 74 kg and 120 kg, and Jaber Behrouzi and Bahador Mowla’ie in 69 and 105 kgs gained silver medals. Also, Mohammad-Hossein Mohammadian and Parviz Hadi gained the bronze medals of free style wrestling’s 84 and 120 kgs. The Iranian students’ sports caravan with its one gold, six silver and three bronze medals ranks 33rd in the games’ score chart, and since the completions still continue for another day this rank might still be lowered. In 26th World Students Universidad held in China the Iranian sports caravan gained one gold, four silver, and three bronze medals, and with its eight medals ranked 33rd in the world. The Iranian students had in the 25th Students Universidad gained five gold, two silver and one bronze medals./end
