Iranian taekwondokas win colorful medals at Asian Championships

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian athletes won two gold and one silver medals on the third day of the Asian Taekwondo Championships in South Korea on Sunday while they snatched four silver on the second day of the contests. The gold medalists were Zahra Pouresmaeil in women’s -73 kg and Akram Khodabandeh in women's +73 kg. Also, Ali-Reza Nadalian could receive the silver medal. He lost the combat to his Chinese rival in the final. Up to now, Iranian taekwondokas have grasped three gold, five silver, and two bronze medals at the Asian championships while one day has remained to the end of the contests. So far, the gold medalists of Iran are Nahid Kiani, Zahra Pouresmaeil, and Akram Khodabandeh; the silver medalists include Mir-Hashem Hosseini, Mehdi Haj Mousaei, Mobina Ne’matzadeh, Nastaran Valizadeh, and Ali Nadalian; and the bronze medalists include Zahra Sheydaei and Danial Bozorgi. The 25th Asian Taekwondo Championships kicked off in Hoban Gym in Chuncheon, northeast Korea, on June 23 for four days with the participation of 386 athletes from 32 countries.
