Iranian young taekwondo champ gains world gold medal

Tehran, IRNA – Matin Rezaie, the Iranian taekwondo champion gained the gold medal of Sofia 2022 World Taekwondo Junior Championships on Friday. In the ongoing international athletic competition in Sofia, Bulgaria, from Iran Fereshteh Fathi in girls’ matches and Matin Rezaie in boys’ game faced their competitors. In Matin Rezaie’s 63kg group there were 49 taekwondo champions, and he gained a rest lot for his first match but beat Jules from France, Nocolovski from Australia and Burkai Err from Turkey to reach the semi-final. In semi-final he faced Rafael Papa from Greece and beat him to reach the final, where he faced Nazarov from Uzbekistan in a sensitive and spectacular match that he won to gain the gold medal. In girls’ game Fereshteh Fathi in minus 55kg won her lost 2-1 in match versus Nika Karabatich from Croatia 2-1 and was eliminated from the competition. The Iranian young taekwondo champions have up to the end of the fourth day of these competitions gained 3 gold and a silver medal. Sogand Shiri, Mobina Nematzadeh, Abolfazl Zarandi, and Matin Rezaie have gained Iran’s gold medals, while Parnia Salmani has got our single silver medal so far.
