Italy supports Qatar's Hosting of 2022 World Cup

Doha, October 12 (QNA) - Italy has expressed support for the State of Qatar's hosting of the 2022 World Cup. This came during a meeting the Italian Ambassador to State of Qatar Guido De Santis held with Assistant Secretary-General for Projects at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Yasser Al-Jamal during which they discussed ways of cooperation between the two countries in the field the 2022 World Cup projects in Qatar. The Ambassador expressed the readiness of the Italian public and companies to provide all necessary support to the efforts of Qatar for hosting this global football event which assumes a special place in his country which won the World Cup 4 times in its history, along with Germany the current world champion Germany and less once than Brazil which won the cup five times. "I've seen myself how people love football in this region and our commitment to supporting the World Cup stems from our passion in Italy for this game that has an ancient history and tradition of our country," the Ambassador added. After attending an interactive presentation about the progress of Qatar in preparation for hosting the 2022 by Tamim Al-Abd, manager of Luisail Project at the the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy's Technical Department, the Italian Ambassador expressed his admiration for the design of the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor city, which was inspired by the traditions and culture of Qatar, saying: "this will be one of the most famous monuments in Qatar as it reflects the culture and traditions of the region in a gorgeous way." The meeting was attended by Massimo Rustico, Advisor of International Affairs at the Italian National Association of Construction and Dr. Federico Moretti, one of the managers at the Association. The Italian National Assembly for Construction includes more than 20,000 private trade and industrial companies engaged in public works and construction industry. This is the second time for the Italian Ambassador to visit the headquarters of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy in recent months. Concluding the visit, the Italian Ambassador expressed hope for the enhancement of cooperation between the Committee and the Republic of Italy on the way towards the hosting of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.(QNA)
