Italy's Alessandro Chianese Wins Qatar Open Shooting's Double Trap Event

Doha, February 27 (QNA) - Italy's Alessandro Chianese won today gold in the double trap competition of Qatar Open Shooting Championship. Qatar's Masoud Al Athba and Rashid Al Athbi joined four other shooters in the double trap competition. They managed to get fourth and sixth place respectively. The organizing committee allocated total prize money of $132 thousand for the 280 participants to compete over. Qatar will be represented in the skeet shooting event by Nasser Al Attiyah, Abdulaziz Al Attiyah, Rashid Saleh, Masoud Saleh, Hassan Al Mannai, Reem Al Sharashni, Amal Ahmed, Hajer Mohammed among many other stars. The majority of participants are Olympic champions and medalists. Director of the competition Abdullah Ali Al Motawa Al Hammadi said that the three competitions held as part of the championship saw very strong competition from Olympians and world champions, noting that Italians dominated this year's event so far. He also expressed his surprise at the great performance of Iranian players, who came close to winning a gold medal before ending in second place. He told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the Double Trap that he was pleased with the two Qataris who reached the final stage of the event. He then moved to discuss preparations for the skeet event, saying that Saturday will see the crowning of the champions. He highlighted the presence of officials from the International Shooting Sport Federation, who praised the high level of organization for this year's event.
