Japanese Delegation Gives Lecture in Aspire Academy on Legacy of Sport Tournaments

Doha, February 13 (QNA) - Aspire Academy on Wednesday hosted officials from Japan's Tsukuba International Academy for Sport Studies (TIAS) and Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) to give a lecture to the students on legacy programs related to the Olympic Games which Japan will host next year, and the importance of anti-doping. The lecture comes in light of Japan's host of the 2020 Summer Olympics and questions about on the legacy the tournament will deliver and the benefits it will bring to the host country and its people, as well as the role of Japan in the fight against doping in sports. During the lecture, Takumi Kawahara, the Director of the "Sport for Tomorrow" program, which Tsukuba Academy falls under its umbrella, praised the close cooperation between Japan and Qatar in various fields of the organization and management of two of the most important sporting events in the world, which are Qatar 2022 World Cup and Tokyo 2022 Olympics, stressing the importance of the legacy these tournaments will make. With Japan and Qatar hosting the two most important sports tournaments that attract the attention of the whole world, it is wise to combat doping in order to ensure that they are not mentioned in the news headlines during the two tournaments, he said. "We have come to Aspire Academy to talk to its students about promoting the positive values of playing honestly, and our slogan is "play with honor." In the lecture we focused on encouraging students, trainers and employees to understand the high ideals associated with doping control. Our general message is not only to raise awareness about anti-doping philosophy and rules, but also to develop human resources through doping control. By promoting our anti-doping program around the world, we hope to promote the concept of fair play in all sports in different countries, and of course in Japan and Qatar," Kawahara said. Tsukuba International Academy for Sport Studies was established in 2014 with the aim to prepare to prepare the next generation of sports leaders. The Academy is a central part of the Sport for Tomorrow program supported by the Japanese government to promote sport. One of the main objectives of the Academy is to train global talent in sports leadership. The Academy continues with other sports academies around the world to help them achieve this goal. Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) was established in 2001 for the protection of sports integrity and anti-doping. The agency promotes anti-doping and doping tests during and after competitions, trains teachers, supports anti-doping awareness campaigns and collects and disseminates information about doping.
