Japan's Suzuki Wins 50km Gold at IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019

Doha, September 29 (QNA) - Yusuke Suzuki became the first Japanese race walker to win a world title at IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019, making a bold move in the early stages to build a lead that largely went unchallenged. Suzuki, 25, crossed the line in 4 hours, 4 minutes and 20 seconds. Portugals Joao Vieira, making his 11th World Championships appearance at the age of 43, came through to finish second, becoming the oldest medalist ever at the World Championships. And a fast-finishing Evan Dunfee took bronze nearly catching Vieira before the line to become Canadas first ever medalist in the 50km race walk.
