Jin Wei Lands First International Title Of The Season

KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 (Bernama) -- Goh Jin Wei, the 2015 world junior champion, finally claimed her first international title of the season after emerging victorious in the Orleans International Challenge Badminton Tournament in Paris on Sunday. She, however, received stiff resistance from Indonesian shuttler Fitriani Fitriani before securing a 15-21, 21-10 and 21-7 victory in the final of women's singles at the Palais de Sport Indoor Arena, according to Badminton World Federation (BWF) website;www.bwfbadminton.org. As the winner, the 16-year-old shuttler pocketted Euros 1700 (US$1,938) while Fitriani earned Euros 1,000 (US$1,140). Jin Wei is scheduled to compete in two more events this month -- Singapore Open Super Series from April 12-17 and also the Badminton Asia Championships in Wuhan, China, from April 26-May 1. Malaysia's challenge in three other events -- men and women's doubles and also the mixed doubles fizzled out on Saturday after the players lost to their respective opponents. -- BERNAMA
