Khalid bin Hamad congratulates leadership

Manama, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, President of West Asian Athletics Association, President of Bahrain Athletic Association congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the success of the Bahraini men and women teams in winning four medals (including one gold, two silver and a bronze) at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. His Highness stressed that this achievement is due to the constant support from HM the King to the sports sector, which reflected positively on the development and prosperity of this vital sector. His Highness also congratulated the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, on Bahrain's adding a new achievement to its record in the mother of sports. This is the outcome of the efforts of the government's projects and programmes that seek to promote youth development in sports, implemented by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, for his keenness to support all nationals teams to participate in various sports events abroad. His Highness expressed his great joy for this historic achievement which puts the Kingdom of Bahrain on the international sports map. He also congratulated Bahraini athletes for reaching the podium thanks to their outstanding performance. His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa pointed out that this international achievement surpassed what the team accomplished in the last championship hosted by the United States of America in 2016 where the team won a gold, silver and two bronze medals. This reflects the success of the sound programmes implemented by the Bahrain Athletics Association to create a solid platform for athletes to compete with full power in all sport events abroad. He added that Bahraini athletes will receive all needed support so as achieve better results in the 2017 World Championships and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
