KHK MMA fighters prepare for battle

Manama, June 26 (BNA): Career defining fights await KHK MMA fighters in the next two months, in what will be a defining moment for the team. The highest profile fight is Frankie Edgar’s shot at the interim UFC Featherweight Title against the former champion Jose Aldo, on the biggest stage of all, UFC 200. This rematch takes place on July 9th in Las Vegas, on the most stacked card in UFC history. Just days before UFC 200, also in Las Vegas, will be an equally significant event for Bahrain; the IMMAF Amateur World Championships. His Highness Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa along with 6 of Bahrain's finest combat athletes will storm the American Desert this year! Competitors in no particular order - Ali Ebrahimi, Abdulla Alfayez, Mohammed Adnan, Fahad Abdulrazzaq, Abdulla Seena and Hussein Maki. These men will compete with the rest of the world, over 53 countries, flying the Bahraini flag in the world’s most prestigious amateur tournament. This runs from July 5 to10 and promises to be a celebration of the growth of MMA in Bahrain, as the young athletes get an opportunity to showcase their skills to the world. Showman James Gallagher gets his own taste of the big stage as he makes his debut with the elite promotion Bellator MMA. The MMA prospect has been tipped for big things, having emerged from SBG gym in Ireland, the gym which Connor McGregor hails from. Gallagher will be looking to land his fourth submission victory in as many fights, having had a blistering start to his pro career. The confident Irishman will appear on the July Bellator fight card. In August, KHK MMA’s Jose Torres fights and similar to Gallagher, he’s looking to maintain his perfect professional record. He is a two-time IMMAF World Champion, to add to his two Gold Medals from the Pan American Kickboxing Championships. He comes with serious credentials and will look to make his PRO record 3-0, three wins and zero loses, in the Titan 40 card. Finally, and coming up next for KHK MMA, another IMMAF Gold Medalist is fighting in less than two weeks, Frans Mlambo (1-1). KHK’s Featherweight turned professional after last year’s stunning Gold at the amateur World Championships, winning his first pro fight in style before being TKO’d in his second. And on June 25, in the UK, he will look to get back in the win column, as he takes on an undefeated Englishman Luke Ordin his own backyard. Source: KHK's Media Office
