King, Prime Minister, Crown Prince on athletics achievements

Manama, July 12 (BNA): First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the West Asian Athletics Association, and President of the Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA), HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, and HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, on Bahrain’s achievements at the Third West Asian Championship. Bahrain’s national athletic team shined at the Third West Asian Championship held in Jordan, winning 35 medals, including 20 gold, 12 silver and three bronze medals, and ranking first among the participating nations. HH Shaikh Khalid affirmed that this achievement is a continuation of the series of accomplishments that Bahrain's athletes have achieved in various external sporting gatherings thanks to the patronage and support of HM the King and HH Shaikh Nasser, pointing out that what has been achieved is a real reflection of the abilities of Bahraini athletics which has earned Bahrain major honourable results in recent years.  HH Shaikh Khalid praised the outstanding performance of the athletes in the tournament, and commended the great efforts of the technical and administrative staff and the follow-up of BAA’s officials. HH Shaikh Khalid added that this achievement will motivate the Board of Directors of the BAA to provide more support and care to the Bahraini athletes to continue the success of the Bahraini sports, especially in the upcoming 2018 Asian Games, which will be held in Indonesia.  HH Shaikh Khalid expressed his optimism and confidence in the ability of the Bahraini athletes to achieve more honourable results for the Bahraini sports.
