Kyrgyzstanis win 7 medals at World Grappling Cup in Kazakhstan

Bishkek, Sept.23, 2019 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s athletes won 7 bronze medals at the World Grappling Championships in Kazakhstan. The results published on United World Wrestling’ web site. The tournament is taking place in Nur-Sultan. Bronze medalists in No-Gi discipline were Argen Kaidybayev (62kg), Toktorbai Zhusup uulu (66kg), Azambek Shamshiyev (77kg), Dostuk Joldoshov (84kg) and Beksultan Omurzakov (92kg). Nurzhanat Bekmatova (53kg) and Diana Zhakyp kyzy (71kg) climbed to the third step of the pedestal among women. Two domestic wrestlers, Abdyldabek Kekenov in the weight category up to 71 kg and Abdurakhman Murtazaliyev in the weight category up to 84 kg will compete for the "gold" of the competition. They compete in the Gi discipline. Grappling, in hand-to-hand combat, is the act of gripping or seizing the opponent, as in wrestling. Grappling is used at close range to gain a physical advantage such as improving relative position, or to cause injury to the opponent. Grappling covers techniques used in many disciplines, styles and martial arts that are practiced both as combat sports and for self-defense.
