Langkawi to Host 2015 Paintball World Cup for Fifth Time

ALOR SETAR (Kedah), Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will host the 5th edition of the 2015 Paintball World Cup championship for three days starting Oct 29 in Langkawi, an island in Malaysia's northern state of Kedah. Kedah Menteri Besar (state's chief minister) Mukhriz Mahathir said the championship organised by the Kelab Belia Darul Aman and Asia League Paintball Sports Club will see the participation of 140 teams from 24 countries and involve 2,000 participants. Among countries in the list are United Arab Emirates, Taiwan, Nepal, Mexico, Kuwait, Iran, Norway and Sweden. Mukhriz said Malaysia were given the honour to host the World Cup by the United Paintbal Federation (UPBF) due to an impressive record after hosting four successful editions consecutively. He said about 65 percent were foreign entries. Speaking at Wisma Darulaman Monday, Mukhriz said hosting the World Cup in Langkawi would not only help promote Malaysia as a tourist destination but also turn Langkawi into a hub for paintball in Asia and the entire world. --BERNAMA
