Light Weight Challenge to be held on Friday

Manama, Sept.6 (BNA): The light weight competitions of the 2nd Strongest Bahraini Man qualifiers will kick-off on Friday under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Athletics Association.  The event is taking place under the theme #Be_Monster and its qualifiers will conclude on Saturday, while the finals will commence on 21-23 February 2019.  The Strongest Bahraini Man Championship is part of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa's humanitarian and sports initiatives that are aimed at supporting youth and sports sectors and Its proceeds will be reserved to support cancer patients.  HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa said, on this occasion, that efforts are continuing to support Bahrain as an incubator for various sports, which increase its global standing as one of the developed countries in the field of sports thanks to the constant care and support from HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which reflected positively on the development of sports in Bahrain.  He added that the sports in the Kingdom are witnessing a developmental movement to raise its standards, through the outstanding efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in translating the visions and directives of HM the King through strategies, plans and programmes to promote this vital sector.  Furthermore, Shaikh Khalid said: "The Strongest Bahraini Man which we launched in February is one of the most innovative tournaments in the region, and we have been keen to organise it in this form in order to make Bahrain joins the group of the countries that are pioneer in organising this kind of sports in the world which relies on fitness and body strength and other fitness elements."  He explained that this championship represented one of the most important initiatives launched by HH to encourage Bahraini youth to practice sports and to discover talents. HH Shaikh Khalid concluded by saying: "We look forward to seeing the participants displaying their utmost in the qualification round to make it as much exciting as possible. It's worth noting that the weight check and confirmation of registration for the participants took place on Thursday.
