LTdL, First Official UCI Race To Use Vittoria's High End Bicycle Wheels

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Jan 15 (Bernama) -- Asia's prestigious cycling race, the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2015 becomes the first official International Cycling Union (UCI) race in the world to use Vittoria's high end bicycle wheels. Vittoria Industries Asia Pacific chief executive officer Willem Campagne said the high end bicycle wheels launched last year, were made with a radical new and patented material called Nano-Graphene. He said the material radically changes wheel properties, making them lighter, stronger and allows much higher heat dispersion that could allow riders to brake late when negotiating a corner. "It remains to be said once again - we are very proud to be a part of this great race. For Vittoria Asia Pacific it will remain in the top three regional events we will sponsor and actively participate for the foreseeable future. "Next to this, Malaysia is for us a key Asia Pacific market where we have and will continue to invest in, with our first representatives hired last year. In Malaysia, we are growing very fast," he said at the LTdL sponsorship announcement at Menara KBS, here Wednesday. Vittoria, the Italian tyre brand would continue as the neutral service provider at the 20th edition of the Hors Classe race scheduled from March 8 to 15. Campagne was also amazed with the level of professionalism in terms of organisation, participation and national support towards LTdL which is similar to other big races in the world. He said Vittoria hoped to share its expertise, not just in supporting the riders during the tough race, but also to provide an experience to be enjoyed by fans and particularly for cycling enthusiasts. Campagne said Vittoria would deploy its Servizio Corse Digital platform which will allow anyone and everyone to send pictures and selfies to their hash tags which will be put on screens around the race and posted on diverse social media. "The interesting part is that last year we achieved a total cumulative reach of 12 million page and post views of the content that was uploaded by the public. We are going to try and break that record this year," he added. Organised by Human Voyage, the 20th edition of the LTdL is set to cover more than 1,000 kilometres over eight stages. -- BERNAMA
