Luke Pomersbach granted bail

New Delhi, May 19 (PTI) Australian cricketer Luke Pomersbach, accused of molesting an Indian American woman, was today granted bail by a Delhi court which found that he had not tresspassed into her room in the five star hotel where the alleged incident took place. The court also directed the 27-year-old batsman, playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in India's IPL limited over cricket tournament, not to approach the complainant woman. After watching the CCTV footage provided by the police, Metropolitan Magistrate Navita Kumari Bagha enlarged Pomersbach on bail and said that no offence for 'house-trespass or wrongful restraint' under Indian Penal Code s made out against him. The court granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 30,000 along with two sureties of the like amount. The magistrate directed the cricketer to surrender his passport before it and asked him not to leave the country without its prior permission. Speaking to reporters outside the court, Pomersbach said, "Obviously, I am very relieved after what happened in the court today. I am happy with the support I have got from my family and girl friend back home and the RCB. I am looking forward to get to the bottom of the investigation." "I am disappointed with the way the allegations were made on me. It's sickening. I have faith in the justice system (in India). Looking forward to get to the bottom of it. I am happy that I have been granted bail," he added. Pomersbach, who has had a history of brawls and brush with police in his country, was accused of outraging the modesty of a woman here on the intervening night of May 17-18 night, after a post-match party. During the arguments, police played the CCTV footage on a laptop inside the courtroom and also submitted the medical reports of Sahil, who is undergoing treatment in a private hospital here.PTI
