Malaysia Beat Singapore To Clinch Third Spot In ISTAF Super Series

KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysia clinched third spot in the ISTAF World Super Series after beating Singapore 2-0 at the Wolmyeong Arena, in Gunsan, South Korea, Sunday. Malaysia, winners of the second series in Melaka, bounced back from the embarrassing 0-2 defeat to host South Korea yesterday to beat Singapore 21-18, 21-9 in the third-fourth playoff. Coach Abdul Ahmad Talib decided to rest Sahidan Ali (tekong) and Khairol Zaman (feeder) and fielded Hairul Hazizi as (tekong) and Zuleffendi Sumari as the (feeder) while Mohd Zamree remained as the 'killer'. The National team's next assignment will King's Cup in Thailand from May 4 to 10 and SEA Games in Singapore from June 6 to 15. Meanwhile, Thailand emerged victorious in the men's and women's events after the men beat South Korea 21-10, 21-19 while the women downed the Korean women 21-12, 21-18. -- BERNAMA
