Malaysia Beat Timor Leste 7-2 In AFF Futsal Championship

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) - Malaysia got back to winning ways by beating Timor Leste 7-2 in a Group A match of 2015 AFF Futsal Championship in Thailand Sunday. In the action at Bangkok Futsal Arena, Malaysia opened scoring via Akmarulnizam Mohd Idris (2') followed by Muhammad Fitri Muhammad Yatim and Saiful Aula Ahmad (12', 17'). Timor Leste reduced the deficit via Machel Antonio Fernandes Alves Carvalho in the 19th min. Muhammad Fitri scored another goal in the 22nd minute but Timor Leste retaliated with another goal via Remigio Duarte a minute later. Malaysia got three more goals via Saiful Nizam Mohamad Ali (34'), Saiful Aula (37') and Ahmad Fawzul Hadzir (40') to make it 7-2. Malaysia routed Brunei 9-1 in the opening game on Thursday and lost 6-1 to hosts Thailand Saturday. Singapore are the next opponent for Malaysia who have to win to join Thailand in the semi-finals. The top four teams will advance to 2016 AFC Futsal Championship Finals in Uzbekistan, in February next year. -- BERNAMA
