Malaysia Continues Unbeaten Run in Women's World Squash Tourney

 KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysia remained unbeaten as they crushed Switzerland 3-0 in their last Group D match in the 2018 Women’s World Team Squash Championship in Dalian, China, Thursday. The third straight victory secured by the national side saw them emerged as Group D winner, having beaten South Africa and Hong Kong with a 3-0 result, respectively. In Friday’s match, reigning national champion, S. Sivasangari delivered first point for Malaysia by defeating Cindy Merlo 8-11, 11-4, 11-9 and 14-12, according to the tournament website www.wsfwomensteams.com. National junior player, Aifa Azman doubled the advantage by subduing Celine Walser;11-6, 11-5 and 11-4 in the second match, before former world number five, Low Wee Wern completed the rout by dislodging Nadia Pfister 11-7, 11-7 and 11-4 in the third set. Malaysia will meet Group C runner-up, France in the quarter-finals match Friday. Sixteen teams are taking part in the biennial tournament. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s campaign at the CAS International Squash Tournament has ended after the second seed, Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan suffered a 11-4, 9-11, 11-13 and 6-11 defeat to the fifth seed, Youssef Soliman of Egypt in the semi-finals match in men’s event in Islamabad, Pakistan. -- BERNAMA
