Malaysia Cruise into AFF Futsal Championship Semifinals

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia cruised into the semifinals of the 2015 AFF Futsal Championship after defeating Singapore 5-0 at the Bangkok Futsal Arena in Thailand, Monday. By earning a berth in the semifinal, Malaysia also booked its place in the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship Final in Uzbekistan. Malaysia, the Group A runner up, will however, face an uphill task after drawing Australia in the semifinals on Wednesday, while group leader Thailand will host Vietnam. In the Group A match Monday, Malaysia took the lead through Muhammad Akmal Yazadh Amri in ninth minute followed by a goal from Syed Aizad Daniel Syed Nasir in 22th minute. Coach Marcelo Serpa's boys netted another three goals through Saiful Nizam Mohamad Ali in 38th minute, Saiful Aula Ahmad (39th min) and Muhammad Fitri Muhamad Yatim (40th min) for a comfortable win. Malaysia routed Brunei 9-1 in their opening game on Thursday and lost 1-6 to host Thailand on Saturday before bouncing back to defeat Timor Leste 7-2, Sunday. -- BERNAMA
